Description
Guidalberto from Tenuta San Guido is an elegant and intense Tuscan red wine, produced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes . This red comes from the desire to produce a younger wine than Sassicaia using also Merlot grapes.
Tasting notes
In the glass the Guidalberto of Tenuta San Guido has a brilliant ruby color. The nose expresses the fullness of Merlot grapes with notes of coffee and Mediterranean references . In the mouth it is full and has powerful tannins , it closes on a long and persistent finish . It is ideal to combine with Tuscan gastronomy, game, first courses based on meat sauce, red meats and aged cheeses.
Processing
The harvest takes place manually, then the grapes are taken to the cellar where the best grapes are sorted and selected. The grapes are then softly pressed and de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place without the addition of external yeasts , in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After a maceration of about 15 days for the Merlot and 10-13 for the Cabernet Sauvignon, the musts obtained are aged in French and American barriques for 15 months.
The cellar
Tenuta San Guido is a historic winery located in the Bolgheri area and boasts ninety hectares of vineyards, 75 of which are dedicated exclusively to the production of Sassicaia. The name of the estate derives from that of San Guido della Gherardesca. In addition to Sassicaia, the winery produces other excellent quality labels that have become symbols of Italian excellence in the world.
