Nero D'Avola by Occhipinti is one of the leading red wines of the Sicilian winery, produced from 100% Nero D'Avola grapes. The grapes grow on soils of calcareous origin, and are grown organically .
In the glass, Nero d'Avola Di Occhipinti has a dark ruby red color. The nose releases fruity notes of plum , blackberry and currant that evolve into notes of tobacco, licorice and myrtle . In the mouth it is warm and elegant but also fresh and velvety . It goes very well with elaborate Mediterranean cuisine.
The harvest takes place in the first ten days of October, then the grapes macerate on the skins for 25 days . Finally, Occhipinti's Nero D'Avola ages in Slavonian oak barrels for 22 months and a further 2 months in the bottle . Bottling takes place without any filtration .
Arianna Occhipinti is one of the most famous women in Italy when it comes to wine. The winery was founded in Vittoria in the province of Ragusa on the provincial road 68, with the aim of producing quality wines respecting the ancient traditions. The company follows a traditionalist production philosophy in full respect of the territory and nature, in fact for the crops no chemicals are used but only a little copper and sulfur. Occhipinti wines are now known all over the world and best reflect the aromas and characteristics of the territory.
