The Pietranera from the Piaggia winery is a red wine that is obtained 100% from Sangiovese vines. This wine is structured and harmonious.

Tasting Notes

Pietranera di Piaggia has an intense and dense ruby red color. The nose is complex and recalls the fruits of forest jam, sweet spices, thyme and cocoa. There is an excellent balance between alcohols and sugar alcohols, acids and tannins, with a sweet, fresh and fruity following. It is a wine that is pleasant, full-bodied and satisfying, with a good chance of aging in the cellar for a few years. In fact it is ready to be tasted on the spot, but it still has qualities that allow it to evolve and refine over time. If properly stored, it resists for at least another 2-3 years. This wine is best enjoyed with a tasty meal based on game, beef, lamb, veal, chicken, cured meats and aged cheeses.

The vinification takes place in small containers that facilitate the extraction of the components of the peel. The fermentation carried out with natural yeasts takes place in full respect of the terroir, while the permanence of the wine on the skins lasts at least 18/20 months. Finally the Pietranera di Piaggia ferments for at least 3 in small French wooden barrels. After bottling, it ages for a minimum of 6 months in glass.
