Description

Marcel Lapierre's Morgon derives from pure Gamay grapes grown in Villié-Morgon in Beaujolais. The vines are over sixty years old and are raised through the principles of biodynamic agriculture on sandy soils with granite shale. The harvest of the bunches is manual, after which the vinification takes place in a minimally invasive way. Fermentation, preceded by carbonic maceration, is spontaneous and takes place in steel tanks for 10-20 days. The refinement foresees a rest of about nine months in oak barrels before bottling, passage without the addition of sulphites. The particular winemaking process requires particularly careful storage of the purchased bottles which must be kept at cellar temperature due to the risk of deviations. It is a perfect wine to drink immediately, but it can evolve well if kept in the cellar.

Tasting notes

Morgon has a dense and bright ruby red color. The olfactory bouquet ranges from notes of small red fruits and cherry pulp to more delicate floral hints of violet, ending with notes of licorice. On the palate it is taut and crunchy, with a full and satisfying sip.
