Description
Franz Haas Lagrein is a red wine produced from one of the native vines of South Tyrol that grows on a soil of alluvial origin.
Tasting notes
In the glass, Franz Haas' Lagrein shows a deep and intense red, the nose is intense with a bouquet that ranges from notes of ripe red fruits to hints of violet and spicy notes of grass and cocoa . In the mouth it seduces with its strong personality and is characterized by a velvety and elegant sip. Ideal to drink young but after a period of aging in the bottle it is softer and rounder. It goes perfectly with meat-based main courses.
Processing
Following a careful selection, the grapes are harvested and subsequently de -stemmed and fermented in open vats . Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels where Franz Haas' Lagrein matures for 10-12 months . Finally, the wine is further refined in the bottle for a few months before being put on the market.
The cellar
The Franz Haas winery was founded in 1880 and is considered one of the oldest and most important wineries in South Tyrol. Maximum respect for the environment and for the vines give rise to bottles able to excite with its typical aromas of the mountain area. The choice to use a screw cap is a quality choice made to guarantee the customer a wine not altered by cork, which can be stored longer. Franz Haas' bottle labels are designed by the famous artist Riccardo Schweizer.
