Description
Barbaresco Sorì San Lorenzo is a red wine from the Gaja winery produced entirely from pure Nebbiolo grapes. The name Sorì San Lorenzo derives from the hillside to the south, while Lorenzo is the patron saint of the Cathedral of Alba.
Tasting Notes
The red wine Sorì San Lorenzo di Gaja presents itself to the eye with a bright red shade. The nose presents sensations that, from the undergrowth, arrive at ripe fruit and spices, with light nuances of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is full-bodied, warm and enveloping, with a balanced sip and a pleasant freshness. On the finish it is of good persistence. It goes perfectly with red meats, game and with the white truffle of Alba. This wine is able to age for a very long time, if well stored in the cellar. A bottle that offers an exciting experience.
Processing
After a careful selection of the grapes the vinification takes place and subsequently the wine undergoes a double refinement, in order to fully develop the characteristics of this wine. Initially, the Sorì San Lorenzo di Gaja ages for 12 months in barrique , and then another 12 months in large barrels. At the end of these 24 months of maturation, the wine is bottled and marketed.
The Cellar
The Gaja winery was founded in 1859 in Barbaresco, in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe wine growing area. It immediately established itself as one of the symbolic wineries of the region. It was founded by Giovanni Gaja and subsequently passed under the control of his son Angelo. The latter immediately invested in the pursuit of the highest quality. Tradition and innovation have led Gaja to establish itself on the entire world scene with products capable of enhancing the wine quality of Piedmont and more generally of made in Italy in the world.
