    Description

The Sito Moresco of the Gaja winery is an intense and complex red wine produced in Barbaresco, in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. This wine is produced with 85% Nebbiolo, 10% Barbera and 5% Merlot grapes.

    Tasting Notes

The Gaja Moorish Site is presented in the glass with a beautiful bright ruby red color. The nose has intense aromas of ripe red fruit and berries, such as cherry, black cherry, black currant and raspberry, furthermore we find floral notes of rose and other dried flowers with herbaceous and slightly spicy hints of pepper in the background . In the mouth it is soft, rich, deep and structured, it is finally characterized by a freshness that makes it pleasant to the sip and by a silky and subtle tannic texture.

    Processing

The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand when they are perfectly ripe. The bunches are delicately de-stemmed and pressed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with frequent pumping over and maceration on the skins for a few weeks. After that, the wine is drawn off with the pressing of the skins. Finally the wine remains in refinement for at least 12 months in stainless steel containers and then it is bottled and continued its aging in the bottle for a few months.

    The cellar

It was founded by Giovanni Gaja and subsequently passed under the control of his son Angelo. The latter immediately invested in the pursuit of the highest quality. Tradition and innovation have led Gaja to establish itself on the whole world scene with products capable of enhancing the wine quality of Piedmont and more generally of made in Italy in the world.
