Tasting Notes

The Promis Ca 'Marcanda di Gaja shows a wine and intense ruby red color . On the nose its aromas are deep and complex, at the beginning ripe red fruit and dark pulp drupes stand out, and then leave room for toasted and spicy hints, with pleasant notes of licorice and goudron. On the palate it is warm and full-bodied, always maintaining freshness and tannin. Finally, this red has a long and intense persistence. Ideal to combine with red meats, white meats, game and aged cheeses.

After harvesting through a careful and meticulous selection of the grapes, they are taken to the cellar where fermentation takes place, the wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels, where it naturally stabilizes reaching a good expressive maturity.

The cellar

The Gaja winery was founded in 1859 in Barbaresco, in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe wine growing area. It immediately established itself as one of the symbolic wineries of the region. It was founded by Giovanni Gaja and subsequently passed under the control of his son Angelo. The latter immediately invested in the pursuit of the highest quality. Tradition and innovation have led Gaja to establish itself on the whole world scene with products capable of enhancing the wine quality of Piedmont and more generally of made in Italy in the world.
