Description

The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella from the Giuseppe Quintarelli winery is a red wine born in Negrar, in the heart of Valpolicella in Veneto. This amarone is produced from grapes: Corvina, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Sangiovese and is able to rise and enjoy bottle aging.

Tasting Notes

Quintarelli's 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella is ruby red in color and to the nose it gives an intense aroma of licorice, cocoa, vanilla that blends with the ripe fruity notes of cherry and plum. The taste is full, intense, of refined elegance and with a remarkable persistence.

This fine red wine is an excellent wine to be served during important dinners in combination with roasts, aged cheeses and game. Or a perfect idea if you have to give a wine to an enthusiast.

Processing

The grapes are carefully selected at the time of harvest which takes place from mid-September to early October, and then set aside in wooden boxes and on racks. Noble rot appears between the end of November and the beginning of December. Subsequently, the fermentation takes place, by indigenous yeasts, which lasts about 45 days. In February the soft pressing takes place and then the maceration which lasts two months. After the racking phase, Quintarelli's Amarone della Valpolicella ages for 7 years in medium-large Slavonian oak barrels, where further alcoholic fermentation takes place.

The cellar

The Giuseppe Quintarelli company, which has always been a pillar of Valpolicella, has been carrying on tradition and quality since the early 1900s. Respect for nature and strict selection of grapes are the strong point of Quintarelli's labels. Its wines are designed for a very long aging and characterized by great vitality. The winery is located in the province of Verona in the municipality of Negrar. Twelve hectares where the most important autochthonous grape varieties meet and give life to extraordinary labels.
